Cynthia Marie VanLandingham has been teaching piano in Tallahassee, Florida for 20 years, and is the owner of Tally Piano & Keyboard Studio. Her beautifully illustrated piano storybooks show piano students ages 6 to 11 what piano lessons are all about in a fun way that kids readily understand and appreciate.

Cynthia says,

"Children love stories, and they are a great way to teach important lessons and motivate young girls and boys. Most young students starting music lessons have lots of questions, and all beginning students must learn how to develop good practice habits. That's why I've written Piano Bears Musical Storybooks - to provide a unique way to inspire and motivate children in piano to succeed.

There are 7 million children in the US currently enrolled in piano lessons.  So today's parents recognize the many benefits of piano for kids. But many other activities compete for their children's time. Piano teachers are looking for a fun and loving way to make piano lessons new, exciting and motivating, so they can enroll more students and have the best piano studio!  My Piano Bears Musical Storybooks are a unique and special product both parents and piano teachers want and need to make lessons more exciting for kids.  As a piano teacher, I've never had a parent, grandparent or student whose heart wasn't touched by these wonderful stories."

Cynthia's storybooks use the characters of Little Bear, who is just starting to take piano lessons, his friends and family, and Mrs. Treble Beary, his teacher. In the stories, Little Bear, with the help of his family and friends, learns how to overcome his worries and set positive goals to achieve his musical dream.

In addition to teaching piano, Cynthia writes children's storybooks to help museums, non-profit organizations, and businesses who wish to support the education of tomorrow's children for a brighter future. She is currently publishing a new book, A Storybook on Public Art: Emily Visits the FSU Master Craftsman Studio, a program of the Florida State University School of Visual Arts and Dance.

Cynthia is an alumna of the Florida State University College of Education, a Member of the American College of Musicians National Guild of Piano Teachers, and President of Tally Piano Enterprises, LLC.

Book Review

This is an amazing set of little books. Cynthia Marie VanLandingham's Piano Bears Musical Storybooks are "must haves" for any parent who wants to encourage a child to learn to play the piano. They are beautifully illustrated - a joy to hold and read, and read again and again. Having them also available on DVD and CD-ROM is a plus. The adventures of Little Bear and his teacher, Mrs. Treble Beary, are designed to eliminate stress and make each piano lesson something to look forward to. The books subtly teach patience, as the student learns to set and achieve goals. I was certainly impressed, not only with the insightful material but with its charming presentation!
